Active hands-on Treatments

Dr. Murakami believes that effective pain care is rarely one-dimensional. In addition to interventional procedures and regenerative treatments, she offers hands-on and active therapies that address the root contributors to pain. These include movement patterns, tissue tension, and musculoskeletal function. Depending on your condition, these therapies may serve as a primary treatment. Alternatively, they can be integrated into a broader care plan alongside injection or regenerative procedures.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)

Osteopathic manipulative treatment uses hands-on techniques to address musculoskeletal dysfunction. Specifically, it targets restricted movement in joints, muscles, and connective tissue. As a result, patients often experience improved mobility and reduced tension. This is particularly useful for spine-related pain, postural imbalances, and soft tissue dysfunction. Dr. Murakami draws on her osteopathic training to assess how structure and function interact. She then applies manual treatment when it is clinically indicated as part of your care plan.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves placing fine needles at specific points to modulate pain signaling and reduce inflammation. It is also used to support the body’s natural recovery processes. In particular, it is beneficial for chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, and certain neurological symptoms. Dr. Murakami integrates acupuncture where it is clinically appropriate. Rather than a standalone treatment, it is offered as a non-pharmacologic option alongside other interventions.

Mobility & Exercise Therapy

Restoring movement is central to long-term pain relief and joint health. To that end, Dr. Murakami prescribes targeted mobility and exercise programs for each patient. These are individualized plans — not generic handouts. For example, a plan may focus on improving range of motion, building joint stability, or supporting recovery after a procedure. Additionally, patients receive guidance on how to progress safely over time.

How These Therapies Fit Into Your Care

Integrative therapies are recommended based on your clinical picture. In some cases, they are the primary treatment approach. In others, they are used to extend the benefit of an injection or regenerative procedure. They may also address contributing factors that an injection alone cannot resolve. Ultimately, the goal is a plan that makes sense for where you are — and where you want to be.
